Super Man left for the MTC today. Last night we went up to watch him get set apart, it was really special and quite the cry-fest! He is a special young man and has been a part of our family now for over 2 years, we will miss him, but know that he is doing what Heavenly Father wants him to do. The people of California wont know what hit them when this country boy comes a calling, who could resist? We all decided that we dont say goodbye, we say "see ya later".........So...............Elder Superman....See ya later!!! We love you!

Because 6 just wasn't enough..........
We are dog lovers..........It's true, dogs are and always will be in our lives. We have 6......Abby, a Border Collie, who is John Wayne's dog that our oldest daughter, The Jane Fonda Chick gave to him; Angel, the fat Pomeranian, is our youngest son, The Caboose's dog, that Ellie Mae Clampett gave to him for his 5Th birthday, Then there is Tula, my chi, that I also got from The Ellie Mae, (are we seeing a pattern here???), There is Bella, my youngest daughter, Boney Chicks Heeler, And there is Spade, John Wayne's other dog, that The Jane Fonda chick also gave him. And there is Nuffy, named Enuff actually, because when I got here I said "That's it, we have Enough dogs" Hence, her name.................................................Well apparently she wasn't enough...........My husband, John Wayne, sells wood to a guy who happens to raise Boxers, now I have seen this mans boxers and they are cute and all, but I was never tempted, A couple of weeks ago, we were at this man's house dropping off a load of wood, I waited in the truck while John Wayne settled up. Apparently while I waited unsuspectingly in the car, this man and John Wayne were evilly plotting..............John Wayne comes out and plops this smooshy, little, warm, snugly bundle on my lap and says "So...What do you think" Well that was it, it was all over, I just can't resist smooshy cuteness.........................................................sooooooooo
Meet Molly Malone:
The newest addition to our household.....Who knew I liked Boxers???? Not me....but I'm sold !!Who could resist a face like this?? Obviously Not a sucker like me!!!

FaLL ForAy
We had a nice visit from my mom in law and sweet cousin Stacia. They stopped by and stayed a night with us. On Sunday we decided to go up to Fish Lake after church to see the fall leaves before they were all gone. It was so beautiful. We walked down to the lake and had a good time skipping rocks. John Wayne and Superman were the rock skipping champs, they could skip 5or 6 times, I was lucky if my rock didn't hit me in the back of the head. John Wayne and The Caboose crossed the stream and The Caboose saw a fish and was able to catch it with his hands, he was so excited and just after he put it back we came across this sign: We took a lot of pictures of the mountain, I'm glad we got them because it is supposed to snow this weekend, which will end the fall leaves.

SliPPErs that clean house????
I'm always joking about how I wish I could teach my dogs to clean house while I'm gone to work. I keep thinking I should design some kind of little shoes that would sweep the floor as they walk, or train them to scrub the bathroom, or at least just pick up a little. Is that really too much to ask??? The other day I was shopping at Walmart and I saw these fancy little slippers hanging by the cleaning supplies, well, Low and behold, they are made to sweep your floor as you walk. They are made for humans, not dogs, but , hey, I'll take what I can get. So I purchased them and now they are my new favorite thing to wear around the house, no matter what I am doing I am also sweeping the floor. I think it gives me good exercise too because I like to take long broad steps as I go, kind of like ice skating :). What will they think of next!!!!

A twelve year old and cake mix
The weekend was fairly uneventful. Saturday I went to the Taste of Home Cooking and Trade show with a friend. We enjoyed the day, but we were disappointed with the trade show, not very many vendors. But we did get to do the girly thing and have our toes done by one of the vendors, it's an interesting experience, getting gel toes in a big event center with people walking all around.
I turned in my cookies for the contest, there were quite a few entries, I think about 80, so I wasn't expecting to win or anything. They announced the winner during the Cooking School. Not only didn't I win, but I lost to a 12 year old who made Oreo cookies with a cake mix!! Ugggh, I have that recipe! I was under the impression that you had to make up your own recipe. Now I don't mind losing mind you, but a 12 year old with a cake mix????? Crazy! Anyhow I hope she enjoys her trip for two to the Grand Canyon! :)
We leave in 2 days for our Moab river trip, it should be fun! I just hope the weather is nice and no storms.....I'm not sure what they do if it storms. We've decided to just buy our groceries and food in Moab at the grocery store, I think it will be handier and easier than trying to haul food and keep it cold. We are staying in tents, so thank goodness for my blow up mattress!
The weather is definately starting to change, it's much cooler in the mornings and the sun is different, fall is pretty much here, I'm going to miss summer!

I'd rather have a root canal than deal with you kids!
"You know the difference between a Hockey Mom and a Pit Bull? ......................................................................Lipstick!!"
So, yesterday I had to have a root canal. Ugh!! I stayed at work through 5th period, and left, but the students were driving me crazy!! Whiney, Whiney Wednesday!
One of my friends went down with me and sat for 2 hours while I was being tortured. As I sat in the chair, pretty much upside down, with the whirl of the drill and a STUPID rubber dam in my mouth, I got to thinking: I dont really even know what a root canal is. It sure feels like quite a process and what is the grinding? Ewww and that burning hair smell? Why does he push so hard like he's shoving something up into my jaw? How can I swallow all the spit that has accumulated in my throat? I feel like I'm drowning! Why didn't I look up root canals on the internet before I came? Maybe I don't want to know what he is really doing? Do they teach Dentists in Dental school to ask you so many questions while you have a rubber dam, drill, and 2 sets of hands in your mouth? , Do they really want to know the answers? Do they really think you can answer the questions? I wonder if he checks his nose before each appointment to make sure there are no "bats in the cave"?
They decided to let me watch a movie, maybe he could see the wheels turning? I picked The Bourne Identity, since it was the only movie on the list I haven't seen. They put these big glasses (kind of like the Blind guy on Star Trek, I forget his name) on me and start the movie, it's pretty good and does take my mind off of a little of what is going on in my mouth. I didn't get to see the last about 15 min of the movie, so I guess I will have to watch it to find out what happens.
Todays homework: Look up Root canals on the internet!
Tuesday night I made up a few batches of Elderberry cookies, and I think I've decided on the recipe I will use for the contest. I took pics of the Elderberries, but the cookies got eaten too fast for me to get my camera out, so when I make the batch for the contest I will take pictures and post them.

TGIF
It's Friday AND a 3 day weekend!! Hallelujah!! My students are getting on my last nerve today. Sometimes I wonder if I really have patience enough to teach my sewing class. If there is one thing I can't stand, it's a student who wont read the directions, and expects me to stand there and tell them what to do. Arrrghh.......Read the directions please!!
I've been watching the newsclips on my computer all morning, and wondering how I feel about John McCains new running mate: Sarah Palin. I can't quite understand having 5 children, one of which has downs, and is 5 months old, and trying to be VP also. It will be tough. ( Besides, she younger than me........I'm not sure how I feel about being older than a VP running mate)
The weather is supposed to change this weekend. I'm not looking forward to the cold coming. They even said there might be snow at 8000 feet. We are at 7000, so if we camp this weekend we could get some. Oh well, we have camped in the snow before.
We bought a truck for John Waynes woodhaul business, it is older, but big and burly, so it will work well for that. I like it, it has four doors and lots of room, really beefy, and now maybe I can help him more with the wood.
I'm hoping to make some more Elderberry muffins tonight, and I'm going to try to make up a recipe for Elderberry cookies. I want to enter them in the cookie contest for The Taste of Home Show next Sat. So wish me luck!!! If I win, it involves a trip!!!

The Novice blogger
So this is my first attempt at blogging. I'm hoping this can become a place for friends and family to be able to keep up with our lives.Last night we had a barbecue at my music leaders home, it was so much fun! Everyone one of my presidency showed up with their families. I was so excited for them all to be there. I love each and every one of them so much, they each contribute their own unique things to our Primary. It felt good to get together as friends and bond. My secretary, Jodi, was showing me her blog and how you can have it made into a bound journal. It was really neat, so thanks to her I am starting this blog.....Thanks Jodi!!!Life is good. Boney Chick moved back this summer and has been working for the Forest Service, it has been so fun to have her home again. Westing House moved back 2 weeks ago, he got a job working in a lab for a mine. It is close to home here, so for now he is staying here. It's so nice to have our house full again. The Caboose started school last Tuesday and he is loving being a 5th grader. I'm not liking it so much!! I hate to see him grow up. He is such a good boy and is always happy. We are so blessed to be able to live in this beautiful mountain town, I have to thank my Heavenly Father each day for it.
